So I love the taste of Ginger Ale, but I hardly drink the stuff. As you may know about me, I love doing “Favorite Flavor Makeovers” so we can eat and enjoy all of our favorite foods the healthiest way possible. It dawned on me one day last week that why can’t we do the same thing with our beverages?!
I know there’s a lot of conflicting information out there about carbonation, but I’ve been reading a lot about the digestive system, and in moderate amounts, Seltzer is actually a wonderful digestion aid, relieving indigestion and other stomach issues. Note: If you drink too much of the stuff, you will end up bloated – so the key is not to drink it all day long, but a glass or two a day is just fine {unless your doctor has told you otherwise, of course}!!
Ginger is also chock full of health benefits, aiding with colon cancer, stomach discomfort, and pain & inflammation {just to name a few!}. I thought, why not take these 2 and shake ’em up with a little stevia {natural plant sweetener} to make homemade ginger ale? So, that’s exactly what I did, and I was SO SO SO happy, definitely in foodie heaven!!!
Fill a shaker with ice, seltzer, 2 teaspoons of ground or grater fresh ginger, a pinch of stevia and SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. Pour in a tall glass, and this simple, healthy, delicious beverage will have you NEVER craving canned Ginger Ale again!!
