“Life is a creative endeavor. It is active, not passive. We are the yeast that leavens our lives into rich, fully baked loaves. When we experience our lives as flat and lackluster, it is our consciousness that is at fault. We hold the inner key that turns our lives from thankless to fruitful. That key is ‘Blessing’.” ~Julia Cameron

I love this quote, and it’s so true! We hold the key to creating whatever we want in our lives, it really does begin with the way we look at things. By adjusting our “focus lens”, our experience in this world can completely change. A barren tree that once looked like despair can be seen as a beautiful shedding, a work of nature’s art, an exciting passage…everything in it’s own (sometimes really hard to understand way) is a blessing, and I believe it is one of the most difficult yet liberating lessons we must learn in life: to be grateful for it all, for what “is”.

Here are some other quotes on gratitude that I love:

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy

“Gratitude helps you to grow and expand; gratitude brings joy and laughter into your life and into the lives of all those around you.”
~ Eileen Caddy

“Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul.”
~ Henry Ward Beecher

“No one who achieves success does so without the help of others. The wise and confident acknowledge this help with gratitude.”
~ Alfred North Whitehead

“I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”
~ Gilbert Keith Chesterton

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
~ Oprah Winfrey

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.”
~ Charles Dickens

“We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
~ Albert Schweitzer

“There is a calmness to a life lived in gratitude, a quiet joy.”
~ Ralph H. Blum

“People who live the most fulfilling lives are the ones who are always rejoicing at what they have.”
~ Richard Carlson

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance,
chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast,
a house into a home, a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today,
and creates a vision for tomorrow.”
~ Melody Beattie,
Quoted in “Simple Abundance”, by Sarah Ban Breathnach
