I just had to share this information about Miss Representation with my amazing blog readers- it comes from Miss Representation.org…
The critically acclaimed documentary Miss Representation premieres on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network Thursday,October 20, 2011,at 9/8c (times may vary by cable provider, find your local OWN channel here) followed by a special episode of The Doc Club with Rosie O’Donnell featuring Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Gloria Steinem and others.
When the documentary Miss Representation premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, audiences were riveted and OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network acquired its broadcast rights. The film explores how the media’s misrepresentation of women has led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence.
Let’s pave a way for the next generation to change the way women are viewed – from advertising campaigns to what’s in the media, to what sells and what makes headlines.
MissRepresentation.org is a call-to-action campaign that seeks to empower women and girls to challenge limiting labels in order to realize their potential, and to encourage men and boys to stand up to sexism. Join the movement. Make a difference.
