Drinking water is probably one of the simplest things we can do for ourselves that has a huge, huge impact. Not only is it necessary to hydrate the body (which is mostly water- roughly 2/3), it is vital to:
* Carry nutrients to our cells.
* Absorb nutrients better.
* Lubricate the joints.
* Flush out toxins.
* Get rid of bloat (yes, if you need water you retain water).
* Keep body temperature regulated.
* Rev up the metabolism.
If we don’t get enough water, it’s not a matter of just being thirsty. It wreaks havoc on our bodies and we just plain old feel lousy. If we want to live with energy and passion, we have to stay hydrated. Some of the side effects of dehydration include:
* Decrease in energy levels and we get tired.
* Migraine (enough said).
* We can have major digestion issues, leaving toxins in the body.
* We will retain water and have kidney problems.
So, go pour a glass and keep on drinking! I know there are many fancy water alternatives, but 64 to 72 ounces a day of clear water will give you the maximum benefit.
You can jazz it up yourself simply by adding some citrus (lemon, lime, even orange) and mint:
You can add drops of pure pomegranate or cranberry and a mint leaf. If you need a little sweetness, add a pinch of stevia:
So, today, remember to drink a lot of water, and you’re sure to feel better than ever!
I have really felt like somethings missing and as I read more on your site I feel more normal just lacking some balance! Thanks for the ‘wake up call’
Hi Rachael! Thank you so much for reading and commenting- it really means a lot to me 🙂 I know the feeling- sometimes just reading something is the little “click” we need, and actually sometimes writing it is, too!! We are all students and teachers throughout life. Warmly, Jennifer
