“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” ~ Leo F. Buscaglia
I’m a realist. I know that everyone is busy and has lots going on. I get it, because, so do I…but, I have to admit, I don’t think we should ever be too busy to smile at someone.
Smiling is a multi-tasker’s dream, because you can do it while you do lots of things, right? For example, it’s not hard to smile and type. See. I’m doing it now. You can smile and drive, smile and talk, smile and walk. So, it’s not difficult to smile at the toll collector when you pay a toll, smile at the cashier when you grab a cup of morning coffee, smile at a neighbor when getting into your car, smile at someone holding the door, smile at a co-worker when you walk by him or her in the hall.
Smiling is contagious. When you smile, it’s a natural reaction for the recipient to smile back. I even read that happiness comes from surrounding yourself with happy people. And, you never know the effect your simple, genuine smile has had on someone else. When we connect with others, everything seems a little lighter. So, really, it’s not hard, it doesn’t take time, and we all benefit…
Jennifer- I’m smiling at YOU! What a nice little message I stumbled upon and am going to have to bookmark your blog for sure. I love the “Inspirista” attitude. I’ll be paraphrasing and posting on twitter and our fb fan page today!
Keep smiling, it really is contagious 🙂
