Maybe it’s because I love the symbolism of the dragonfly – their short lives reminding us to live life to its fullest. They are carried by wind representing change, but fantastic flyers that can twist and turn, glide fast or slow down, and even fly backwards if needed. They often symbolize renewal, and in some cultures represent balance.
I am drawn to them, as was my grandmother, and since we were married almost to the day on the anniversary of her passing, we chose to have the dragonfly as the pattern on our wedding china.
So, naturally, when I happened upon these largeĀ blue dragonfly buttons, my mind began racing with all of the ways you can use them – to replace the button on your favorite jeans, on a handbag clasp, inside the pocket of a blazer – just a way to remind us of all that the ‘delicate yet strong’ dragonfly represents.
These embossed ceramic buttons are handmade one at a time in the artist’s studio, glazed front and back in a beautiful blue tone. The artist is open to creating them inĀ other colors, too! They are 1.5″ diameter on the largest and 1.25″ on the smaller button (set of two as shown above).
At $9.00, you can add inspiration to just about anything. And the artist doesn’t stop with the dragonfly- there is a whole beautiful collection of handmade buttons on her Etsy store, Unique Buttons.
